GoPro Fusion

The GoPro Fusion marks the beginning of a new creative era. It captures everything around you, so you'll never miss a shot, and the gimbal-like stability makes it all surprisingly smooth. With the GoPro app, Mobile OverCapture allows you to re-shoot endless perspectives from the same content.

You can change settings and modes directly on the camera and use the GoPro app on your mobile device. 360-degree fans have been eagerly awaiting a device from GoPro, which still maintains its title as the king of action cameras. The best 360 cameras have impressive features and plenty of software to make shooting in 360 easier than ever.

360⁰ Camera:

So Fusion's headline feature has nothing to do with the 360° format. It allows you to capture the complete surrounding scene and then post-frame the footage as a regular Full HD widescreen video. Over-capture is about one essential thing in videography: never missing a second of the action.

Fusion has a ton of sensors, beefed-up audio, and voice control. However, there are some glaring omissions from its extensive features list. The Immersive 360 Experience and Play back spherical footage bring everyone into the moment with you.

Handy:

It's built for the outdoors, but the 73 x 75x 23mm Fusion weighs 226g with its 2,620mAh lithium-ion battery. Its square shape isn't as easy to slip into a pocket as some 360° cameras.

Memory Size:

It uniquely Requires two high-performance microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC cards. The Fusion has a slot on either side of the battery for inserting microSD cards, one for each lens. Even better, when you buy the Fusion, you get two free 32GB SanDisk Extreme microSD cards in the box. That's a nice touch from GoPro. Another small hatch hides the USB-C slot for recharging.

Design:

When it comes to operating the Fusion, it's all about simplicity; there are only two buttons, the power button and the shutter button. There’s also a tiny LCD screen whose menus can be scrolled through using those two buttons.

Performance:

• Possible to produce some excellent footage
• Image stabilization works well
• The over-capture mode is easy to use

"GoPro, take a photo". The resolution is not particularly exciting; 5.2K proves just enough, and there's definitely room for more pixels. Fusion Studio allows you to import a 360° video file (saved by the Fusion as an MP4 file) and then dynamically change the perspective of the video.

The software makes it easy to re-frame and crop, but it’s all a bit tricky and basic on the app. For best performance, ensure your Fusion camera has the latest software and always use the latest version of the GoPro Mobile App and GoPro Fusion Studio App for Desktop.

Spherical Video:

Capture incredible spherical video of everything around you by shooting in every direction at once. In addition to spherical video, photos shoot in every direction to capture stunning 5.2K videos and 18MP photos of everything around you.

OverCapture:

OverCapture lets you frame and punch out the perfect shot from any angle to create a unique traditional.
